Do you know all the threads hidden in a knot?
Have you learned all the steps danced in a gavotte?
Have you tasted all the sweetness of an apricot?
Have you seen all the colours a rainbow has got?
I know for sure you smell so sweet.
I know for sure the pattering of your feet.
I know for sure you'll never admit defeat.
I know for sure you're able to cheat.
Refrain
I'll never know why my yearning for you is still so strong.
I'll never know why I keep returning for yet another song.
Something must be pushing me that's older than my bones.
Something must be pulling me that's older than the stones.
Do you know where the moon has stolen its light?
Do you know why a water faucet is never quite tight?
Do you know where all the darkness comes from?
Do you know all the rhythms throbbing in a drum?
I know for sure you smell so sweet.
I know for sure the pattering of your feet.
I know for sure you'll never admit defeat.
I know for sure you're able to cheat.

Eine Liebeserklärung mit fernöstlicher Melodie

Great lyrics!
Knowing the pattering of her feet tells it all...and yeah...for sure...she too is able to cheat!
Love it!

Happy with your comment, Martin Oesterreicher! In 1985, in the middle of my medical studies, Bob Dylan published HIGHWAY 61. The following year BLONDE ON BLONDE came out and with it my imaginary race with him was over! Meanwhile I've written over 600 songs and every now and then it so happens that I can live with the lyrics of one of my songs...
